The Hunting (The Huntsman’s Pause)

In crimson coat, with hands behind,
He stands so still, his thoughts unlined.
No hound, no horn, no hurried chase,
Just silence draped in time and space.

Above the hills, the evening glows,
Three ducks take flight where soft wind blows.
Their wings carve whispers through the air,
A fleeting grace, beyond compare.

He watches long, then bows his head,
A hunter lost in thoughts unsaid.
Perhaps the chase was never meant,
Perhaps the sky is all he’d spent.
